February 2018. This digital painting project took place during an artist residency at New Zealand and Pacific Studios.
Within digital spaces, queer men are able to fully express themselves. For better or worse, discrimination in the form of ‘preferences,’ allows for hateful speech to be posted next to users faces. By surveying Grindr users, a series of digital paintings were made responding to the collected voices of Grindr uses and there views on race on the platform.
Photography within the paintings were submitted by the survey participants allowing them to fuse there voice with there bodies.
